Checking The Automatic Transmission

Used cars have lots of parts that have either been over used or damaged. The automatic transmission is something that is reliable but even today it is still the part that is most easily broken and one of the most expensive to fix. In case the machine has been heavily used or abused the automatic transmission may be destroyed in less than half an hour.

In one case, the automatic transmission was burnt in about 20 minutes while the owner of the vehicle was trying to pull the used car, shiny Audi, and that too on the next day of its purchase. The rebuilding cost the man roughly up to $2000 despite that it broke again after another year. Such experiences are not feasible for certain used car owners. They cannot afford to invest so much money into an already used car.

An automatic transmission has increased sensitivity to the fluid quality and condition. Inappropriate fluid type may damage the transmission. In one case the owner of the car added gear oil in to the automatic transmission and 30 minutes; later the transmission had been brutally mutilated.  It is quite apparent that when it comes to buying a used car the automatic transmission is amongst the vital parts to check. In the current article, I have stated a few signs that help in indicating the potential transmission problem in a used car and apart from that an inspection of the machine is strongly recommended before the deal is finalized.
