How Far Useful Is The AVS In Credit Card Machine?

Safety and security is the main concern in any business to day. The concern becomes even more in cases where you are setting up transitional shops or centers or carrying out the transaction online with invisible customers. The address verification system also known as AVS attached to your credit card machine means you have additional security in your transactions.
When a customer offers his or her credit card for a transaction with you there are a few things you have to check. Either in a traditional or a wireless credit card machine you have to verify first of all whether the provider agrees to pay for the card holder. The same principle also applies for debit cards.
However you are required to check a few more things like comparing the billing address with the address provided in the credit card in your normal or wireless credit card terminal. This may not be possible unless there is a feature called AVS installed in your machine.
The process of AVS in the credit card terminal is that the address provided by a customer or in his ID is checked with the billing address of the credit card. As a result there is very little scope for any type of fraud of billing address or credit swapping. These utilities have made AVS a standard feature for most of the terminals. If you are buying one you must see to it that your terminal has the system attached to it.
